Has the weather been strange where you are?? I took the kids south for most of January to get out of the deep freeze, but it wasn't a deep freeze here. Its snowing today, a mild annoyance now that we're not used to having it around. It doesn't really feel like winter, more like March or April. These are problems I like to have. :)
Organizing update: still at it. still at it. making more progress than this summer and fall, but still trying to clear stuff out. I AM taking a bag or box to the thrift store almost daily, getting rid of books we don't read, clothes that we don't wear, and stuff we hang on to "just in case". If we haven't needed it in the 5 years we've been in this house, we don't need it.
Challenge for March: Make do, mend and recycle. Rather than buying something new, fix the old thing, or make a new one out of stuff we've already got. Go!

Why I love summer...
As I sit in my house at 11:30 PM, the temperature in my living room is a frosty 84 degrees. I decided to give the air conditioner a break today and opened the windows in the house.
And now I need a reminder of WHY I love summer...as I sweat into the night:
1. Swimming
2. Grilling outdoors
3. Shorts
4. the feeling of sun warming my skin
5. (the best reason of all) Its NOT snowing, freezing, sleeting, or doing anything cold outside.
I hope I remember these when its minus 20 outside this winter.
Prayer for the day: help me to open my eyes to the joys of each day, instead of lamenting what I can't control.
Good night!

If a cluttered space yells at you....
then my house is screaming at me. I'd been telling myself for so many years that our house was so cluttered because we both worked and other things were more important than keeping the house spotless. Which was a great excuse until I quit working.
And yes, I stay home with the kids, and yes, the kids are a full time job all by themselves. BUT. I've come to two realizations. 1.) Husband and I are both packrats, and 2.) I can't take the STUFF yelling at me anymore.
Ok, 4 realizations. 3.) I miss creating things. Thats probably the biggest thing I miss about leaving my job - I'm no longer MAKING anything, and 4.) I can't create in the dumping ground that my "studio" (aka spare bedroom/office) has become.
Motivation, here I come!! My goal for the next thirty days is to take a bag of stuff out of the house every day, whether it is trash or a bag for the thrift store. We're not going to sell the house anytime soon, so I can't hang on to the dream of moving to a bigger space to solve my clutter woes. Organize and reduce!! Onward!!!

New Beginnings, new new new
Hello. Hi. Howaya doin?
Come on in and grab a seat. I'm on a new adventure. In 4 more days I'll be a stay at home mom. Work at home? I don't know. I'll be unemployed for the first time since 2005. I've got alot of mixed feelings about this - I've never NOT worked, never thought I would stay at home with kids, never thought I'd live in Minnesota (hence the reluctant midwestern...). But here we are, on the road together, finding our way in the dark and hoping to not end up on the evening news as the latest woman who killed her children. I joke...maybe.
So tune in and hang out, this could be interesting (or not). This is a "mommie" place (or daddy, as the case may be), everything from recipes to dealing with this major life change. Enjoy the ride!
